For sale is a Bulova Accutron
Taking the world by storm in the 60s, the Bulova Accutron broke all boundaries of how a watch should be operated by omitting the usage of balance wheel.
A tuning fork which vibrates at 360 times per second was used instead. As compared to the balance wheel, the tuning fork is more resistant to the bumps that affects timekeeping this making movement more accurate.
Apart from higher accuracy of the movement, the Accutron movement allows the second hand to glide across the dial without any significant jumps (think Spring drive). The Accutron also possess a distinctive hum when it is in motion.
The example offered here boast of a classic champmage sunburst dial with raised Bulova and Accutron logo. The watch hands and dial were lumed to offer greater visibility in low light settings.
The watch is in excellent condition with common hairline scratches seen on the case. Signs of aging can be observed on the hands and edge of the dial. A brand new battery was installed in April 2021.
The watch comes on a brand new handmade top grained leather strap.
