Grand Seiko Special 6156-8040 from 1974 (Serviced with original box and bracelet)
For sale is a Grand Seiko 6156-8040 in immaculate condition.
The watch features an alluring diamond dust-textured dial that is similar to the dial of the SBGD001.
The dial is kept clean with minute markers printed so small that you will barely notice its there. The hands used resembles the lance used for jousting with a slender front and a broader bottom which allows easy time telling without cluttering the dial.
Powered by the Grand Seiko Special calibre 6156, the movement was regulated to ±3/per day (surpassing chronometer standards) at the time of production .
The clean aesthetic of the dial coupled with the 36000bph smooth glide motion second hands allows the wearer to experience the natural flow of time in its purest, most pristine state .
Highly likely due to the way the dial was produced, it is interesting to note that most of the 6156-8040 are seen with dial damage. This makes it hard for collectors to fully appreciate the beauty of the watch since the dial is the highlight of this minimalist watch.
The example offered here is in immaculate condition with minimal signs of aging seen on the case other than common hairline scratches seen on the side of the case and bracelet. The crystal has been replaced for clarity. The dial, hands, caseback and medallion remains mint with no signs of aging seen. The watch was serviced in August 2020 with a brand new crystal installed for clarity.
The watch comes with its original Paulownia wood box signed GS Hi-Beat 36000 Seiko on the inside.
The watch comes on its original Grand Seiko bracelet. The original finishing on the bracelet remains near perfect with the clear separation of polished from brushed finishing.
